Here is a selection of employees talking about their experience at Clifton
“The best part of my job is letting clients know their funding is on its way,” says Laura Moore, from Sales Support. Laura, who works exclusively with one of our consultants, is currently studying for her Level 4 Diploma after starting at the Clifton Group in March 2014.
Chartered Financial Planner Emma Hall started on a graduate scheme at the end of 2006 and after a year of training and exams was out on the road advising clients in North Wales. “In my third year I won the Money Marketing Newly Qualified Financial Adviser of the year award,” says Emma. “I enjoy travelling around the UK meeting different people from all works of life.” Emma, who became chartered at the end of 2014, is the most senior financial planner at Clifton Wealth, dealing with everything from pensions and investments to protection and tax planning.
“It’s a great feeling when you see that ‘Business Submitted’ email,” says Sales Administration Team leader Sarah Casey with a sense of satisfaction because completing pensionledfunding.com deals has become a much more complicated process. Sarah started as Sales Support four years ago and worked her way up to become a team leader. “Time flies when you’re having fun …”
Employee Benefit Adviser Peter Harvey gives presentations to a client’s workforce and conducts one-to-meetings with staff seeking individual advice. “I would be lying if I said all of these are enjoyable; but when you come across a business with a friendly, welcoming and engaging workforce, I find it a pleasure to meet and develop clients this way,” says Peter, who has been with the Clifton Group for almost four years after starting out in Sales Support. “With Clifton encouraging me to take the necessary diploma qualification and my aim to become a consultant I was fortunate to land my current role at the beginning of 2013.”
Elaine Parker has the added responsibilities of being the CRM and Novia champion and mentoring colleagues while continuing in Sales Support for Client Servicing. “The variety of the job and trying to do the best for the clients is the part I enjoy most,” she says after almost three years with the Clifton Group.
Ian Scaife has been with the Clifton Group for 16 years after starting out as an “inexperienced compliance manager” and progressing to Group Head of Compliance through “hard work and commitment”. What part of the job does he enjoy most? “Breaking down challenges into achievable goals and being part of an innovative and progressive organisation,” he says.
Working for Clifton Asset Management has given Adam Rowland experience of a working environment, allowed him to study at college and gain the qualifications he needs to further his career. After just six months at the company, Accounts Apprentice Adam enjoys working on bank reconciliation for our clients interacting with his colleagues.
Richard Powell enjoys dealing with clients’ complex financial planning requirements which ensures “we remain on top of continual regulatory changes and (most importantly) we provide the highest level of service to all our clients”. Richard has been with us for more than two years, starting off as the Sales Support for the Employee Benefits department of Clifton Wealth. He has just been promoted to a Paraplanner and since joining the company has completed his Level 4 Diploma, achieved CF30 sign off with the FCA and is now studying AF3 on the way to becoming a pensions specialist.
Carly Shute joined the Clifton Group in 2008 as a Graduate Trainee and has risen through the ranks to become Group Projects Manager. Along the way she has worked as Sales Support and for Morgan Lloyd as a SSAS Administrator. Carly progressed to a Management Trainee, helping to establish Morgan Lloyd SIPP Services Limited, before moving into the role of Operations and Projects Manager for Morgan Lloyd. “I enjoy the variety of work I get involved in and the challenges it presents,” she says.
“I love how each client is unique, every reconciliation a puzzle that has no easy answer. I try to learn something new every day and challenge myself,” says Accounts Assistant Anna Ivanova, who gained her AAT qualifications with the support of the Clifton Group. Anna, who has been with us for more than three years, is looking to progressing her career to the next level.
“No two days are ever the same, which is good,” says Luke O’Callaghan. Luke joined the Clifton Group in 2010 and worked in several departments in the first two years before deciding to join the IT team. “I started fresh out of university as a graduate, so this was my first proper job.” Systems Engineer Luke enjoys helping his colleagues navigate around the CRM system he helped develop and he has also assisted in recruiting of a small team of developers.
“Knowing that the Pension-led funding deals we complete make a real difference to our clients and this can really help their business potentially grow into something big is the part of my job I enjoy most,” says Sian Budd. Starting out as a Support Administrator in 2008, Sian progressed to become a full SSAS Administrator and then became a Senior Pensions Administrator, co-ordinating the administrative functions within the team for both our SSAS and SIPP offerings.
Financial Consultant David Bentley came to us with a background in personal financial planning. Since arriving two years ago he has extended his expertise to SIPPs, SSASs and Corporate Financial Planning. “What do I enjoy most about my job? Meeting clients and offering innovative solutions to solve their funding needs,” he says.
Interacting with business owners is key for Lee Carwithen. “I enjoy understanding how they work and how they operate and being able to talk them through the benefits of their pension scheme and what it is able to do for them,” he says. “I have been lucky enough to progress my career well since joining the group.” Lee started out in 2008 as an administrator before quickly moving onto to the technical team with Morgan Lloyd. He has been with the team for six years, taking on extra responsibility and becoming the senior SSAS Technician.
